Sometimes it's hard to find the sparkle of hope and joy in the morning headlines. This year seems to have had too much tragedy. Yet looking back through Oregon history, the first settlers, ranchers, loggers, and fishermen frequently faced personal tragedy along the way to building this great state. These setbacks strengthened the foundation and character of our resilience. It's this resilience that gives Bud Pierce hope for Oregon's bright future.

According to Pierce, “We are a great people, true descendants of the rugged individuals who traveled thousands of miles to make Oregon home. We don't get tired, and we remain optimistic and hopeful, always seeking to create a better day. We are accepting of new and innovative thoughts and practices, and we relish true freedom: the ability to be who we truly are.”

Imagine leveraging our will and our land to do and be more in 2016. Imagine having an elected leader who will improve graduation rates, reduce homelessness, and create more jobs. Oregon will be better in 2016 than we are today. Our lands are vast and beautiful, and much of it is pristine. We can create policy that mirrors Oregon's beauty and delivers what her citizens deserve. We live in a time of tremendous potential for peace and freedom if our leaders are willing to work to achieve these aims. Join Bud and help build his hope for 2016.

Please have a wonderful holiday from our family to yours.
