Run as One 5k - A Report from Jake Pelroy, Veterans Outreach Coordinator
This weekend I had the pleasure of joining some fellow Veterans in Wilsonville for the "Run as One." The run was coordinated by Team Red, White & Blue, Team Rubicon, The Mission Continues. The event was in honor of Marine veteran Clay Hunt, an original member of Team Rubicon, who took his own life after battling PTSD and depression.
Most of the participants were “Eagles” from the group Team Red, White & Blue (Team RWB). Team RWB’s mission is to enrich the lives of America’s veterans by connecting them to their community through physical and social activity. They have chapters in Portland, Salem, Eugene & most recently Bend and Roseburg. It is free to become a member. Any additional info about TeamRWB can be found on the national website.
The Salem RWB Chapter is hosting an Armed Forces run next month. It's at no cost for Active Duty military or Veterans. There is more info on their Facebook event page. Their goal is to get maximum participation. You do not need to be RWB member to participate. All proceeds benefit the Oregon National Guard Scholarship Foundation. See more information here >>>
